Residencies

Mirabo Press is an ideal setting for artist residencies, from artists looking to expand their practice into printmaking to experienced printmakers looking to take advantage of a pristine studio capable of making large scale etchings, relief prints, monotypes, and screenprints. With our unique and extensive facilities, combined with the experience of the Mirabo printers, we can offer a residency program tailored to your needs.

We are a collaborative studio, so let’s talk about what you would like to achieve artistically and what we can offer.

  • Mirabo hosts only one residency at a time (unless at the request of the resident).

  • Residents will be provided with table space and flat file storage for the duration of the residency.

  • Residents have access to all of the equipment for etching, relief, digital, and screen printing.

  • Residents will have access to the studio 8 am–8 pm, Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm, Saturday–Sunday.

  • Residents will be provided with an initial orientation to the space and tools.

Cost

Residents will pay a flat weekly fee for the duration of their residency, which includes:

  • Use of and access to the facilities

  • A reasonable amount of ink, screens, cleaning and shop supplies

design your residency

In addition, Mirabo understands that no one size fits every artist’s needs. Here are some of the options available to you:

  • Print with Mirabo: For an artist who wants support from the Mirabo team to print your work or assist you in the printing process. This includes not only printing services but a commitment on our part to introduce artists to and train them in new processes.

  • Use the Studio: For a seasoned printmaker who wishes to use the Mirabo facilities and needs only limited assistance from our team.

  • Mixed Residency: Design your own residency based on a mix of assisted and independent printing.

A one-week minimum is required for all residencies. Residencies can be booked for multiple non-consecutive weeks, arranged in advance and subject to availability.

Studio assistance can be booked by the hour if you are looking for only minimal assistance, or by the week if you are planning for a more intensive printmaking project. There are hourly and weekly discounts available for extended reservations, but the standard rates are as follows:

Weekly Flat Rate to use the studio with minimal assistance: $950/wk

Includes a full first day of training and proficiency testing with a team member.

Weekly Flat Rate with Full-Time Mirabo Printer: $2,450/wk

Printers are available 9-5 on weekdays unless otherwise agreed upon.

Mixed Residency Hourly Rate with Mirabo Printer: $55/hr

Hourly rates are only available if requesting 3 or less hours during a workday, and only if the resident has substantial experience in printmaking. Clean up time is not free.
