The Raft Residency
The Raft Residency is an incubator program developed by Art Resource and Elisabeth Samuels' family, in partnership with Mirabo Press, to support artists in the creation of new work through print-based practice.
Created in honor of Elisabeth Samuels, the residency reflects her enduring belief in lifting artists and in art’s power to reinvigorate, both individually and within a community.
Through focused residencies at Mirabo Press, artists are given dedicated time, space, and technical support to experiment, collaborate, and develop sustained bodies of work. Working alongside master printers, artists engage deeply with process, expanding their practice and exploring new directions.
The inaugural year of the residency is supported by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, with an initial cohort of artists selected as part of the program’s launch. Future years will expand access through an open application process, welcoming artists from Buffalo and across the Rust Belt.
Your support helps grow this program, increasing the number of residencies offered each year and expanding access to artists who need time, space, and resources to create.
The Raft Artist Book Series
As part of each exhibition at Art Resource's TENfold Gallery, featured artists will collaborate with Mirabo Press to produce a limited edition artist book.
Each edition is produced in a small run and supporters of the Raft program will have the first opportunity to acquire them.
Together, these publications create a growing archive of The Raft Residency and a tangible way to support artists while collecting meaningful works connected to their practice.
