Mirabo Press is thrilled to announce Day-Glo, an exhibition of new works by Gareth Lichty. The exhibition will be on view from September 5th - October 17th, 2025.
Lichty’s practice engages deeply with scale, color, and pattern, creating works that both energize and disrupt the spaces they inhabit. Simultaneously confrontational and inviting, this series employs vertical linework and fluorescent inks to produce relief prints that not only vibrate but throw color into their surroundings. These prints engage the viewers’ perception, challenging both visual and cognitive processes, and offer an abstract, immersive experience.
The prints on display were created during Lichty’s residency at Mirabo Press. Working with a set of large-scale woodblocks that Lichty fabricated, he explored various colorways, interactions of line widths, and the many ways these formal elements can intersect. Approaching relief printing from a sculptural perspective, the works move beyond a traditional print viewing experience, appearing as larger-than-life objects that are as visceral as they are conceptual.
We invite you to join us for an opening reception on Friday, September 5th, 2025 from 6-9pm. The event will be free and open to the public.
This project was made possible through the generous support of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
